obliolupo
A Sound's A Million Shapes - the third album by singer and composer Alessia Obino - weaves a sonic world informed by poetry, jazz and progressive rock. Conceived as a tribute to the cultural sources that have influenced contemporary music and accompanied social transformation, this work can be seen as an ode to all those who have been pushing forward and dreaming of a better world.
Obino's latest offering is fuelled by her love for Sun Ra and his visionary cosmic allegory, a look towards a future imagined through the literary lens of science fiction. While harnessing lush instrumentation and dreamy choirs, she reinterprets these sources thanks to her artistry and musical sensitivity earned over a career of collaborations with leading figures of the contemporary music scene.
Five tracks infused with rock, soul, funk and free-jazz take you on a musical journey filled with vision and hope, inspired by social awareness and activism: from the dreamy medley tribute of Sun Ra’s compositions “Somebody Else’s Idea” and “The Soul Vibrations Of Man”, to the final psychedelic trip of “Needless To Say”, written by Detroit-born pianist and composer Greg Burk, whose synths are featured on the track.
A Sound’s A Million Shapes is the fourth release on LA-based imprint Domanda Music.

This could’ve been my album of the year if I’d noticed it. Hell.
2020, feeling like shit and then this musical balm appears. Live recording on one mic. Just bass and harp. Awesome. It swings like a pendulum do!
Big shout out for Dezron’s love of coffee. I now have 2 of his albums and he’s proselytising on behalf of coffee on both. Damn right ☕️ Crinklechips
